Lincoln Sheriff Badge
Lincoln Sheriff Badge
Item #M185
Description
The Lincoln County New Mexico war is considered by many to be the greatest example of civil disobedience and vigilantism in the Old West. The Dolan- Riley (Politician/attorneys) faction was allied with the local sheriff George Peppin against the McSween Tunstall faction (merchant/cattle ranchers) that included Billy the Kidd. The war was a battle between newcomers and old timers for economic domination of the largest county in the U.S. The War culminated on July 19,1887 as the U.S Army entered Lincoln and sided with the sheriff and his men. McSween and many of his men were killed but Billy the Kidd escaped to fight another day. Thus ended one of the bloodiest range wars in U.S history. This five-pointed star is just like the badge worn by Sheriff Peppin. Completed in a beautiful finish, it measures 3 1/8-inches x 3 1/8-inches and has a sturdy pin attachment. Your satisfaction is definitely guaranteed with this badge! Stop and order your own Lincoln Sheriff Badge today!
