First Defense Spray uses a 10% Oleoresin Capsicum pepper formula that irritates nerves near the skin's surface causing burning on contact. It provides a fast takedown, giving officers enough time to restrain the prisoner for transport. Unlike tear gas formulas, 10% Pepper Spray is non-vaporizing, so it does not effect an officer who is transporting a sprayed suspect within the confined space of a cruiser.
